Bigger Toys

I have been asked to come up with a Christmas wish list. This is only for family members and for those who find themselves with an abundance of cash leftover after all of their shopping is done. And one thing I realized in creating this list is that the older I get, the bigger the toys get. Dr. Jack Graham, pastor at Prestonwood Church in Plano, Texas, said that you can tell what a person is passionate about by what they talk about and what they share with others (car decals, polos, and house decor.) I guess the same can be said by what’s on a person’s gift wish list.

1. A gas grill with a side burner. Prefer black. Three burners within the grill, with a rack on the inside for hotdogs or shrimp.

2. A University of Tennessee grill cover.

3. 2 tickets to the 2008 All-Star game at Yankee Stadium

4. One of those huge overly-relaxing massage chairs from Brookstone

5. Gift card from Bachrach

6. Gift certificate for a hot air balloon ride in North Texas

7. For those of you reading this with ultimate “means”, my family is cramped when it comes to going anywhere together. It can be frustrating trying to buckle everyone in the car-seats due to how tight it is on the back bench of the van. So, with that being said, if anyone would like to get the Dixon 7 a larger vehicle, well then just scratch everything off the list. That would be amazing. Wait, no, that would be a Christmas miracle.

8. A GPS system that can be easily moved from car to car, that gives voice commands and shows maps with signs.

9. A gift card for one of the ticket-selling businesses for a sporting event.

10. A round of golf at the Cowboy’s Golf Course in Grapevine, Texas.

11. The new puzzle called the ISIS

12. Any of the cool gadgets out there these days for the IPOD

13. Tennessee Volunteers Boot Slippers ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14. I want to start collecting change. I learned from someone awhile back about saving the change at the end of the day and would love a Tennessee or Yankees or Titans bank for all the change.

15. Since I will be working from home, any cool office gadgets.

That should do it for now. I am always game for being surprised with gifts that I hadn’t thought of. I considered asking for a bike with an extra seat on the back for Logan or one of the other kids to sit in, but then I remembered the ridiculous number of bike wrecks that I have had and decided against it. I did take Logan to his first major-league baseball game this last season and would like to take him to his first pro-football game and a Vols game. Hudson will have his time.

Enjoy your shopping and don’t forget to drop some change in those red buckets outside the doors of the stores. Maybe in a few days, I’ll write about the time my dad made my brother and I stand in what I felt was below freezing conditions and ring that amazing little gold bell. My dad was a pastor at the time…wonder if the store even knew we were there and did dad use the money for our gifts…anyways.

One Response to “Bigger Toys”

  1. Are you kidding! It WAS below freezing. 17 below! First or second coldest night in the history of Shelby County, Ky. And NO, we didn’t do the “Sticky Bandits” thing. All the prcoceeds made it to the SALVATION Army. Remember when we used to say we were going to buy your children all the things you whined about us not buying you. I’m afraid you and Liz have made us eat those words! Have a Merry Christmas. And in those famous words to kids in college or bill collectors, ‘The check’s in the mail.”

    Ho!Ho!Ho! and Go Vols!!!
